The exhibition represents works of different generations’ and various schools’ authors. Among exhibits, e.g., there are photos by Gennady Ratushenko, the most famous Tajik photojournalist, founder and chairman of the Union of Photo Artists of Tajikistan. His archives collected during 40 years represent Tajikistan’s photo chronicle from the second half of the 20th century till the beginning of the 21st century. In his works the country’s history is reflected during recent decades: modernization of the soviet Tajikistan, civil opposition in 90th and return of peace.
And the young photographer Gairat Usmonov’s pictures reflect disturbing perception of the country, healing the scars of recent civil war. In conceptual works of the photographer Jamshed Kholikov national tradition is interpreted with appropriate to post-modernism quotation of European painting and religious ceremonials. One of his key works “The Girl on a Ball” is oriental coloring interweaving with the European tradition.
