Transport Corridors in Asia Discussed in Tashkent |

The conference “International Intermodal Transport Corridors in North-East and Central Asia” was held in Tashkent under the auspices of UN ESCAP.
Delegations of Kazakhstan, China, Kirghizia, Mongolia, Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, representatives of UN Economic Commission for Europe, the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia, and Japan International Cooperation Agency took part in the conference. The participants of the meeting examined the situation of international transport corridors, current questions of container traffic, harmonization of regulatory and legal framework, simplification of customs procedures, and reduction of time for international carriage of goods. “In the course of the conference exchange of opinions was held on issues of further increase of transit potential of the member states, through the territory of which standard routes run connecting Europe and Asia, as well as questions of international logistics, infrastructure and communications, and also priorities of transport corridors development, intermodal and multimodal transportation were defined for the near future,” the press service reported. |
