|Visit to Russia of Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs|
|Marat Tazhin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, paid a working visit to the Russian Federation on March 14.
In the talks in Moscow, Tazhin and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov again compared notes on the main issues of the agenda of Russian-Kazakhstan relations.
The sides exchanged views on topical problems in international life, gave a high appraisal of cooperation between the two countries in all fields and spoke for further close engagement between the brother peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan, in bilateral affairs and on the international stage as well.
During discussion of current issues in bilateral relations, they noted the great significance of the Russia-Kazakhstan Joint Action Plan 2009-2010, a strategic document approved by the heads of the states determining the high priority tasks of Russian-Kazakhstan cooperation. The Foreign Ministers noted that progress in carrying out the Plan is under the constant control of the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries.
Lavrov and Tazhin paid special attention to Russian-Kazakhstan interaction in Caspian affairs. The sides demonstrated a positive mindset to search for joint decisions in determining the legal status of the Caspian Sea and ensuring security and economic cooperation in the Caspian region.
The main aspects of the joint work of the two strategic partners in integrative associations, such as EurAsEC, SCO, CSTO and CIS, were discussed.
The Russian and Kazakhstan counterparts also focused on the two countries’ interaction on international platforms, particularly in the context of Kazakhstan’s OSCE Chairmanship in 2010. The Foreign Ministers declared the intention of the two ally countries to cooperate even more closely, rendering each other support in promoting joint initiatives.
The sides gave a high assessment of cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in the field of inter-civilization dialogue and agreed to conduct coordinated work in this sphere.
The conversation passed in a trustful and friendly atmosphere traditional for good-neighborly Russian-Kazakhstan relations.
