On 15 October 2017, at 8 am polling sites opened all around the Kyrgyz Republic for the presidential election. The day before the members of the SCO mission set out for the locations where they would monitor the election process.
SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov took part in the opening of polling place No 1214 and visited a number of voting sites in Bishkek and the Alamedin District of the Chuysk Region. He met and spoke with voters, heads and members of local election commissions as well as international and local observers.
The election is being held in compliance with the full range of new procedures instituted by regulations of the Central Electoral Commission of Kyrgyzstan. High turnout was recorded among voters, including seniors and youth. Special attention is paid to voters with disabilities.
All the necessary conditions were created for the international observers to monitor the election. The members of the SCO observer mission work in Bishkek, Osh, Kant, Kara-Balta, Cholpon-Ata and Balykchy as well as other polling places in the Chuysk, Issyk-Kul, Narynsk, Osh and Jalal-Abad regions of the country.
